Take me there: My Game Events

#A day or two before

  • Schedule the event with a title, a venue and a start time, so players know what to look for.
  • Decide what players must enter to join: the sign-in fields. Ask only for what you will use.
  • Check your player limit against the crowd you expect. Add capacity if needed.
  • Run a short test game with Host a Game Now, joining from your own phone.

#At the venue, before guests arrive

  • Put the HUD on the screen and check that the QR code is readable from the back.
  • Check the venue's Wi-Fi or mobile signal, and have a phone ready to join.
  • Open the Host Console on your laptop or desktop (a tablet can be a second console), and keep the access code handy to say aloud.

#During the game

  • Keep the QR code visible so latecomers can join.
  • Say the steps out loud once: scan, choose a name, wait.
  • Watch the player list on the console. A name that never appears means that person is stuck. See if something goes wrong.
